Manchester United made hard work of victory against Fulham at Old
Trafford where Robin van Persie and Shinji Kagawa opened their Reds
accounts.
Damien Duff put the visitors into a shock early lead before a cracking volley from £24m man Van Persie drew United level.
The dominant Reds roared into the lead through Kagawa's tap-in and Rafael's header before the break, but anyone who thought a victory stroll would follow was mistaken.
A mix up between David de Gea and Nemanja Vidic led to an own-goal from the defender, and De Gea had to save sharply from Moussa Dembele to secure the three points.
And there was a late worry for United when Wayne Rooney sustained a nasty-looking cut to his leg late on.
